Rich was a good friend. We both became good friends when we found out we were both Vietnam Vets. He was quite a guy who loved the Lord. He got Corona Life Services started I know that there is around 2000 souls alive today because of his dedication to save the unborn,

Happy birthday Ruth. Godspeed to Van Barbre. From a drafted, disabled, and 1968 Republic of Vietnam combat veteran. Look up Alexander Zsigo, my next-door farm neighbor who died in Vietnam the month I got drafted. Look up my best buddy in high school Dwight I. Ade - dead in Vietnam. Look up my best buddy in the Army, Jesse Carmona, Jr. - dead in Vietnam. Look up Joseph M. Zagorski. He was in the same train car with me and died in his first day in the Army. I saw 4 men die at the same time and did not know their names. All those men did not have a chance to get old in life.
Corona is gay lets celebrate!🏳🌈

Van, I was S'64 so I'm just simply jealous. This is so cool checking out all the people I knew and still know. Bill Gargan S'64
Thanks Bill.. I have a class page on Facebook you might enjoy. facebook.com/SPHSWinterClass1964
Viet vet here. You're so right about counting and announcing how many days we had left the funniest thing Ibsaw over there was where someone had written on the outhouse wall "SHORT" 364 days left and I feel like I just got here yesterday!
I remembers seeing that too, Think it was when I was leaving on the outhouse too. Welcome Home. Van
Love this video of how you all got started and God's hand in it all! God bless you and thank you for your faithfulness!🙂
Dear sir. Maybe you do not want anyone replying on your Vietnam Videos here but I watched one and you have no idea as a little girl from Missouri that only wanted to go to Vietnam and be a medic. It was my dream I got to go. Day after I turned 18 in 1970 I got to go to Ft McClellan for Basic training. I sent pictures to my parents who weren't so humble that they would keep them for me. Nor would I know they wouldn't keep them. I was a 91B20 Medical Specialist Sp/4 Well I will not bother you. BUT THANK YOU for doing this. You can delete this but know you will always be a special person for making the videos..
Welcome Home Maria, Thank you for being there for us and taking care of us. There would have been many more names on that wall if it weren't medic like you. God Bless You.

In 1971 they timed the flight to bring us to Oakland in the middle of the night. The plane didn't go to the terminal but rolled into a hangar where a bus with painted over windows was waiting. It was like we were supposed to be ashamed. I tell every bro I can identify... :""Welcome home".
Welcome home sir.
Thank you for sharing your stories. I hear you preach the Gospel on KHLT radio, Honolulu. Thank you Jesus, Glory to God.
Greetings from Ranccho de Vegas. That is awesome and very clever.I appreciate the work and the simplicity of your set-up. Putting it up is fun but not as much fun as viewing it and showing it off. I need a bigger house and a dedicated room and closet.
Thanks Ray I look forward every Christmas just setting it up and my grandkids come over and help . They mark the date every year when I getting ready to put it up.
@@vbarbre I am sure grandkids make life worth living. I'm still waiting for some. LOL
I'm an old man now...77, Vietnam Vet 67/69 and I do cry anytime someone says "welcome home"...yes, it really matters...
welcome home
It doesn’t matter! And because of an iFunny, I do that every time I see Vietnam vet! I don’t say thank you for your service, I say welcome home! I encourage everyone to do that because the light you see in those eyes it’s unbelievable!
Thank you for your service sr! My uncle Lance Corporal John Hernandez USMC 1st Marines 1st Battalion 0311 was killed in action in 68. I didn’t get a chance to meet him! I was born in 84 but a lot of good stories about him and I’m very proud and thankful for his sacrifice. I will never forget! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank You, So sorry about you Uncle
The author does like to from scratch, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxbnOKZBE4evMO5V2vroHeCjq6d_MV6wJO shaping and trimming wood from large blocks into fine finished products. As another reviewer mentioned, most projects require a lot of high-dollar equipment that most of us don’t have the room or budget for. But, knowing how to do these things, even if we won’t be able to practise the full stack project, is still great.
I lived in San Pedro in 1965, 66, and 1967. I had 2 teenage girlfriends but I was too busy going to high school and working. I spent too much time cruising around in my 1956 Chevy car. Beautiful area and beaches within short driving distance. I miss those fun teenage years and my family, too.
Thanks for sharing David those particular years I was in the army in Vietnam, so I guess we never ran across each other.
I ALWAYS tell other Nam Vets “Welcome Home” because we never were told that. As for being treated like crap coming home, I guess I was lucky because I never heard anything bad going through San Francisco airport or Love Field. And I had my uniform on too. As for being thanked for my service, that’s something that was started for the Middle East Veterans, not us and to me, I’m not a fan of it. Sorry.
I came home in April of '72. The people on the plane told us to change into civies if we had them before we got out of the plane.
Real nice Christmas Display! Grandson loves my trains. Have small village on small living room table.
Merry Christmas Van & Sheri! Love the video Christmas vlog. God bless you both.
Thank You
Van, Merry Christmas to you and Sherri and hope you both have a wonderful New Year!
Thank you
How did you make the train remote control?
It was the kit the polar express train kit
Van, good morning. Please verify the date of the reunion. I believe I heard may 7th at the wigwam lodge. I will be on a cruise during most of April. How approximate! I live on Indian land in Palm Springs for the last nine years. Got tired of the big city. Regards Steve Brockway
Nice work!!
Good morning Van. Are u still in Corona? I have been living in Palm Springs for nine years. Just got back from Italy 🇮🇹 🇪🇸 🇪🇸 Spain & Portugal 🇵🇹. Merry Christmas & happy new year to u & yours. Best regards (Charles) Steve Brockway

Thank you guys for sharing that video! Brought back so many great memories ! 😂❤😊 loved it! Arlene Ambler, Papadakis, Turnquist lol.
Awesome! Thank you brother! I have a cousin who was a medic during the Vietnam War. He was spit on when he returned from Vietnam. He started then quit college because he was shunned because he was a Vietnam Veteran. For me, it was different, but much the same. I was in the Navy during my Vietnam years. My destroyer returned to Pearl Harbor after our deployment in 1970 and in 1972. Some had spouses or friends. There was Navy band and hula dancers to greet the ship. Awesome! But when I went to college for four years under the GI Bill after my enlistment, I never mentioned to any classmates that I was a Vietnam Veteran.
'Promosm' 😁
I was a server at a restaurant for seven years, then I joined the MC, now I’m back at a restaurant and I noticed that whenever I go up to a Vietnam vet and tell them “thank you for your service, I’m a Marine and just got out a year ago.” They always say “Well welcome home to you too Marine.” I never saw combat, never deployed, didn’t go through a fraction of the shit these men went through, but now whenever I see one of those covers I just go up to them, shake their hand, and tell them welcome home.
I spent a year on Okinawa..the same countdowns , the so many days and a wake up, all that..felt so grateful to be home. It wasn’t combat , no protesters…but some things were the same..missing home…
From one more in the number (71-72) - welcome home brother
And Welcome Home rot you Brad and thanks for watching
This is all completely true.😂
Herb and I been friends when we both started working the the Post Office back in 1969
I got the same response when I came back to the world.
I think most of us did. thanks for watching
The protests really too off after the lottery started......the rich kids were all if a sudden faced with being drafted and serving this country!!!!
So true GR
Welcome Home Brother. 1st CAV 71-72 I remember being advised to change into civilian clothes when we landed back in the World. We expected cheers and received jeers. 50+ years later it still haunts me.
Right on Larry I think most of us have.
If you have any Music Mix compilations please send to me
Great Music
This is very moving to this old Viet Vet. Leonard Cohen wrote a great tune, you made it relevant. Thank you and Semper Fi.

great job; had me worried at first👍🤘
Thanks Mike, it's srttill working 11 years later.
This book is Awesome! I love the Lean-To-Shed the most (page 98). The plan ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxo4aMFkUegBx-KHPIJlfwKPHu7kQXAR9N is to attach it to the back of my brick house. I also like how they walk you through the many different steps of construction, which is important for the less experienced like me.
I couldn't wait to get back to the world. I didn't expect the reception we got when we got home. It remained with me when I tried to return to college in 1969. The enviroment was hostile to say the least. Needless to say I didn't finish and I have no body to blame but myself. The upside of all this was the love of a good woman who suffered with me through my PTSD and steered me in the right direction for well over 50 years now.
Wow that sound like what most of us went thru, thanks for sharing, and Welcome Home
WESTERN COLONISTS CANCER OF THE PLANET
Fantastic capture of all the moments of that day, Van, thanks
Welcome home. 🇺🇸

Love this song
I got out of the Marines in September 1971. In the small rural area I came from the people couldn't have been nicer. These people knew us since we were little five-year olds. When I came home to that area it was very nice. However, outside of that area people looked at me like I had some communicable disease. It was in the mid-90's that a small boy held out his hand and told me "Welcome Home". At first I was taken aback by his comment. It was twenty-five years before someone thanked me for my service. USMC 1969-1971
Welcome Home Robert. Great story.
